To use the monitor, first have your child sit upright. Then place the tip of the EarCheck in the outer canal. Press the scan button to obtain a reliable reading and, in seconds, the echo of the sound is analyzed to determine the presence of middle ear fluid. The easy-to-read light sensor indicates when to consult a doctor. If a child is diagnosed with an ear infection, you can monitor whether the fluid is gone and the ear infection is clearing up.
